The Star Ship Enterprise is a prototype and obviously had been kept under wraps, due to its futuristic design.:) It is 190 meters long, weighs 80,000 metric tons, and has a crew compliment of 87, she brandishes laser cannons and spatial torpedoes. Is capable of up to Warp 4 to 5, making the this the fastest ship in Starfleet history.

Long range communication are only possible at warp speeds. The ship's galley is stocked with traditional foodstuffs, but features an early replicator, that produces a limited range of items such as pasta or drinks. Meals are prepared by Captain Archer's hand-picked chef and served either in the Mess Hall or Archer's private quarters, where frequent guests are Tucker and T'Pol.

Although the ship is equipped with transporters, personnel do not trust them yet, mainly shuttle craft are used and can hold a pilot and six crew. They travel sub-warp speeds and are used for away missions to planets, ships or space stations. They can not travel at warp speed. The transporters are used to move cargo. They are being refined for bio-matter traffic.

Without shields or force fields. The Enterprise's main defence is retractable polarised hull plating, that leaves the ship vulnerable when retracted. They emerge from the hull to fire plasma-charged artillery. And the armaments include laser cannons, and spatial torpedoes. No phaser banks on this early design.

Away teams will carry phase guns and communicators with low tech universal translators built-in. Having a linguistic on board will be the normal. The crew must use touch-panel intercoms to converse throughout the ship. 2117: The Warp 5 Institute is founded, led by Zefram  Cochrane who was the inventor of the warp drive, and a participant in The First Contact in 2063: with The Vulcan's, they observed his first flight and decided earth was ready to visited by them. Also captain Archer's father was an  engineer on this team. The ultimate goal of this group is to develop Earth's first Warp 5 engine, which will be incorporated in the Enterprise NX-01.

At this point in History Vulcan's and humans are in conflict and relationship's are at best strained. Almost a parental relationship has developed. The Vulcan's with their logic are holding back the humans in fear that they are not ready. Despite the fact that they are already "Out There" This is why on board the Enterprise they have a Vulcan supervisor, in order to give the Vulcan's some control over the proceedings. Early dealings with aliens displease the Vulcan's. Some of the meetings will involve the Klingon Home world. Their first mission however is to be the first Earth ship to travel to Qo'noS. The Enterprise NX-01 under the command of Captain Jackson Archer. Makes first contact with the Andorian's.
