Broken Bow

Young Jonathan, and his father, Henry Archer are having a discussion about the Vulcan ambassador Solkar, and about the construction of a Warp Five engine that will be placed on a starship that is not yet built. Henry Archer reveals that he and Zefram Cochrane are beginning their work on the engine. Jonathan Archer voices his dream about the human race going to the stars.

Years later, in Broken Bow Oklahoma, a Klingon space shuttle has crash-landed. A Klingon is being chased by an alien being who has the ability to shape shift.

Some days later, Captain Jonathan Archer, and Commander/Engineer Trip Tucker, are making last minute observation tests on the new starship - The Enterprise NX - O1. This new starship contains the new warp core, and is almost ready for launch. Archer gets a call from Starfleet Headquarters in San Francisco. The Klingon is being treated by Doctor named Phlox. It is revealed that the Klingons want their warrior, Klaang, sent back home to the Klingon Home world Qu'onos. Archer informs  Starfleet and Vulcan people that his ship will be ready to take the man back to his world. The Vulcans advise against it but Archer is adamant about it.

Archer begins recruiting key  crewmembers such as Communications officer Hoshi, and Dr. Phlox. Tucker is already aboard the ship,  so is Lt. Malcolm Reed, the weapons officer, and Lt. Mayweather.  The Enterprise is launched at a moving ceremony which includes a recorded speech made by warp drive inventor Zefram Cochrane who tells Earth people that with the new Warp Core, they may finally travel "where no man has gone before".
