James Tiberius Kirk the most famous of all Starship captains, in the history of the Federation.
James T Kirk Comes from a family who’s
history can be traced back to early pioneers who settled America. During a trip
into the past in 1986 he meets the biologist Gillian Taylor and he quips I come
from Idaho I only work in outer space. This sums up our captain Kirk. This
pioneer back ground undoubtable gave him the urge to reach for the stars, and
embark on his own destiny.
He was born on March 22.2233. he had a
brother called George Samuel. A step sister called Aurelan and 3 nephews they
perish all but his youngest nephew Peter while working on a research station,
all fall victim to an neural parasite. He spent most of his adult life in
Starfleet. At the age of 17 his friend, a man called Mallory helped him to join
the academy, and his faith in the young Kirk was well rewarded. Kirk was a
brilliant dedicated student. Kirk was the first and only cadet
ever to beat the Kobayashi Maru Scenario, this test is designed for upcoming
young captains with a no win situation. He breaks in to the Starfleet computers
and reprograms them so he can win. He was commended for original thinking . Kirk was always dedicated to his duty.
As a mid shipman he becomes friends with one of his instructors, Ben Finney, and
Finney even names his daughter Jamie for Kirk. During Kirks first year at the academy
they are both assigned to the U.S.S Republic NCC 1371. Ensign Kirk relieves
Finney on watch and he discovers that he has left open a circuit to the ships
atomic matter piles, this seriously endangered the ship and the crew on board.
Kirk has to report the incident. As a result Finney is reprimanded and loses all
chances of promotion. He fails to accept responsibility and blames Kirk. During this time in the academy he had
three serious relationships with beautiful women.
In 2254 Kirk graduates from the
Starfleet Academy and is assigned to U.S.S Farragut NCC-1640.Withing one year he
is made Lieutenant . On an away mission Kirk is involved with a serious incident
which leaves him deeply troubled for many years. The Farragut encounters a
mysterious cloud, Kirk hesitates for a moment before firing the ships phasers the
creature attacks and kills 200 people including his captain . At this point in his life he meets Carol Marcus they
have a son David but Carol doesn’t want Kirk to be involved with the childs
upbringing, he see’s Carol several times through the years but respects her
wishes. Kirks dedication to his career makes it almost impossible to have a
lasting relationship. Now chief of Starfleet operations, he
returns to the field during the crisis with V’Ger, after this Kirk starts a
new 5 year mission on the Enterprise, this mission ends in 2276 and Captain Kirk
decides to retire. During his retirement he finds love with Antonia, they
live in the mountains of Idaho in a lovely log cabin. Kirk is unhappy and has to
tell her he is going back to join Starfleet. In 2284 against Antonia’s wishes
he leaves.
JAMES T KIRK
AND SPOCK 2264 and,
James T. Kirk starts a five-year mission as captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise
NCC-1701, with the half Vulcan/human Spock as his first officer. the two
officers are quite different. Kirk is ruled by passion and intuition, while
Spock is devoted to facts, logic and none emotion. Their ideals, are much the
same, and as a great mutual respect builds between them, their friendship is
very powerful. They both believe that exploring the universe on the Enterprise
is the most challenging and fulfilling occupation anyone could have. Both have
sacrificed family for career; Kirk has relatives, but often comments that
"men like like me don't have families.
During their
first five-year mission together, Spock is at the apex of his Vulcan inner
struggle; he believes that friendship is sentimental and illogical. On several
occasions, however, Spock's logic is over whelmed by emotion, and Kirk is able
to see into his friend's mind. One such incident is triggered by the Psi 2000
virus and inflicts Spock to a life time bottled up emotions. Among many
revelations of his feelings are of the friendship toward. Kirk. He always wished
he could tell Kirk how he trusted him as his friend but was to ashamed to tell
him, it would have been emotional and Vulcan logic forbids emotion. When the
Vulcan eventually regenerates, thanks to Project Genesis and the return of his
katra, the first person he recognizes is his friend Jim. Spock's father, Sarek,
comments that bringing Spock to Vulcan cost Kirk his ship and his own son, but
Kirk simply replies, "If I hadn't tried, the cost would have been my very
soul. Sarek admires his sons friend but one only senses it because of the none
emotion of the Vulcan. The
friendship between Kirk and Spock endures because they trust and believe in each
other implicitly. It is a rare bond. The finer points of human nature
elude Spock such as the lyrics
of 'Row, Row, Row Your Boat'. and he says to kirk but life is not a dream!
A turning point in
their relationship comes, when Spock enters Pon farr and tells Kirk with
extreme difficulty about Vulcan mating rituals. To save Spock's life. Kirk risks
court-martial by going to Vulcan, where Spock can
resolve his condition. Once there, Spock must face Kirk in ritual combat, and
for a time believes he has killed the captain. His delighted reaction when
this turns out not to be the case, this is the one time Spock is full of
emotion for his closest friend. James T. Kirk
spends the better part of his life "out saving the Galaxy," yet the
legend that is captain Kirk, there are times when he pursues a number of
interests. Kirk's hobbies reflect the spirit of the Kirk, and tell of a
self-reliant man who enjoys life on the frontier, away from the comfort of the
familiar. Some of his pastimes serve to keep his nerves and body steeled for the
unexpected, while others help him connect with the more romantic aspects of his
nature. Spock on the other hand finds relaxation in playing music, reading
poetry, and meditation. Kirk's has a
for fondness antiques. A quick look around the captain's San Francisco
apartment, modern though it is, reveals his fascination with the past: Several
pieces, mostly from Earth's history, are displayed around the walls. Spock
bought him a first edition book for his birthday, this is now part of his
collection. Kirk and
Spock often play at 3 D chess, a favourite shipboard diversion, However Spock
finds Kirks approach to the game illogical. Kirk reads poetry by John Mansfield,
and D. H. Lawrence these are among his favourites. As much as Kirk has poetry
in his soul, he has adventure in his blood. He loves to free-climb, and has even
been seen on the bridge of his ship wearing a T-shirt that reads 'Go Climb a
Rock.' This particular hobby has the added benefit of keeping him physically and
mentally fit for his career. Kirk's
hobbies, while varied, can never serve as a substitute for his career. Only the
captain's chair fulfils him, and his pastimes act to keep him adept for the
real business of starship command. and he knows he has family on board in the
guise of Dr McCoy , Uhura, Chapel, Scotty and above all his right hand man and
friend Mr Spock. Through long experience, Captain Kirk and Spock learn to look
out for each other in conflict situations, They may not always agree. but there
is a mutual respect that they will always work together for the good of crew and
ship. Spock is a loyal First officer and Kirks dearest friend.
One of Starfleet's youngest ever commanding officers, James
T. Kirk was given command of the Enterprise in 2264, taking over from former
captain Christopher Pike. This showed Starfleet had a lot of faith in
Kirk's abilities to protect and serve the people of the United Federation of
Planets, and over the next five years it is a mission he and his trusted team
perform admirably.
FROM ENSIGN TO ADMIRAL
Kirk likes mountain climbing, reading
classical books, chess, antique collecting, physical
fitness, Kirks hobbies can never serve as a
substitute for the big chair and Starfleet career ,
After his tour of duty on the Republic
Kirk returns to the academy where he becomes a student teacher, his class earns
a reputation among the other cadets, who know that in his class it is a case of
"think or sink ". He becomes friends with Gary Michell later they will
serve together on the U.S.S Enterprise NCC- 1701.
In 2263 Kirk is made captain he is now
31years old, he will replace Christopher Pike as captain onthe U.S.S Enterprise
NCC-1701. He is a very successful captain, and is frequently decorated, his
exploits are required reading at the Starfleet Academy. In 2269 after his 5 year mission
Kirk is promoted to Admiral. He fails
to heed the warning from his friend DR McCoy who tells him he will never be
happy unless he is in command of a Starship.

Kirk and
Spock do disagree at times. like when Spock fails to fire upon Sybok, who is
later revealed to be Spock's half-brother. Years later, Spock 'volunteers' Kirk
and the Enterprise to escort Klingon officials to peace negotiations. Kirk hates
the Klingon's for killing his son David, and cannot believe that Spock has put
him in this position. They argue, but later apologize to each other. Spock and
Kirk do not often work together in the years following their first five year
mission,
but they team up in 2285 to deal with the Project Genesis crisis, and their
relationship resumes where it left off. The mission is a success, but Spock
tragically dies; in the process he saves the entire crew by sacrificing his
life. During Spock's
eulogy, Kirk is deeply moved and chokes back the tears, the loss of his dear
friend is very apparent, he says of his friend "Of all the souls I have
encountered in my travels. His was the most human."
When Kirk
climbs the sheer face of Yosemite's El Capitan, Mr. Spock assumes his friend is
trying in vain, to break the free-climbing record. Kirk simply enjoys rock
climbing. It helps him maintain his nerve, and adds the air of danger he misses
while away from the Enterprise. Kirk Does fall! But fortunately for Kirk his
friend Spock is there to catch him only inches above the ground. An
average man would lose his composure, but Kirk just looks at Dr. McCoy, and
asks, "Mind if we drop in for dinner?" McCoy is not amused and he
tells him he could have died, captain Kirk replies. No I was never in danger of
dying, I have always know "I will die alone" That level of aplomb
requires a lifetime of trust in his abilities.

The Federation ensures that the captains and crews who defend
its liberty are highly trained in the arts of peace and war.
Throughout his missions Kirk is inspired by his
instructors at Starfleet Academy and by the example of other officers' logs. His
studies prove valid when, as the young captain of the Enterprise. Kirk finds
himself engaged in a battle just months into his first tour of duty.
From the bridge of this new
Enterprise Kirk returns to his destiny. His loyal crew are by his side for a new
voyage to the very centre of the universe, and together they witness the dawn of
a new era . Starfleet
officers are expected to peacefully seek out new life and civilizations, but
there are often times when diplomatic solutions have been exhausted and the only
remaining option is to fight.
Not all of Kirk's confrontations end bloodless. The Enterprise is engaged in a cat and mouse battle with a cloaked Romulan Bird-of-Prey that has attacked Federation outposts. Kirk orders the pursuit of the vessel as it attempts to escape back across the Neutral Zone. The Enterprise defeats the Bird of-Prey, whose commander then activates his ship's self-destruct mechanism. The Romulan captain said of Kirk in another life we could have been friends.
Captain Kirk's tactical genius is not limited to ship-to-ship
combat. At many times in his life, Kirk has been forced to fight his enemies
face-to-face, with only his fists or primitive weapons. When Kirk is
abducted by a race of powerful beings called the Metrons, he is forced to fight the
reptilian type Gorn, the commander of an enemy ship, in single combat. Without
any modern technology to assist him, Kirk uses raw materials to construct a
basic cannon, which is successful in defeating his opponent. His show of mercy
to the Gorn is also wise, as it dissuades the Metrons from destroying the
Enterprise. Kirk also reverts to using primitive weapons, such as bows and
arrows. No matter what weapons are to hand, or in what arena the battle is
staged, Captain James T. Kirk's tactical skills are second to none. Kirk also
has to make this heart rending sacrifice by self-destructing the Enterprise1701
high in orbit above the Genesis Planet, to prevent the ship falling into enemy
hands. He proves himself to be a tenacious and wily foe. It is his ability to,
in the words of Dr. McCoy, "turn death into a fighting chance to live"
that has earned him respect and admiration.
James T Kirk has always been known| for his dynamic reckless style of command. In his years in the big chair of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 and its successor. He proves his skill as a commanding officer on countless occasions. He is a highly decorated member of Starfleet's elite captains. Among the honours Kirk has been granted are: The Palm Leaf of Axanar Peace Mission, The Grankite Order of Tactics (Class of Excellence), (first and second classes), Preantares Ribbon of Commendation, The Federation Medal of Honour, The Silver Palm with Cluster, The Starfleet Citation for Conspicuous Gallantry, and The Kragite Order of Heroism.
In the early 2280's, Kirk attempts to settle into retirement,
but the need to command still eats away within him. As an accomplished
commander, Kirk is just as at home captaining a Klingon vessel as a Federation
Starship, and proves once again his unorthodox command style is valid when he
leads his crew into Earth's past to save the planet from the destructive
Cetacean probe. Kirk must be disciplined for his disregard of orders in taking
the Enterprise without authority to the Genesis Planet but, in response to his
efforts in saving Earth, the Federation Council settles for demoting him back to
captain and granting him command of the Enterprise 1701-A .Kirk's close friend
Spock says to him "Commanding a Starship is your first, best destiny."

Kirk has perhaps what can best be described as a gentle heart
where members of the opposite sex are concerned, despite the pressures of his
Starfleet career, James T Kirk | has always made time to get to know the many
women. There have been very few instances in his life where his position in
Starfleet does not have something very central to do with his relationships with
women. Kirk was a young man who preferred, career minded blondes. Areel
Shaw, Janet Wallace, Carol Marcus, and Ruth .
In truth, he is unable and unwilling to make a commitment to any woman because of his prior commitment to seek out new civilizations and his duty to Starfleet. Always striving to see the best in people, he takes his optimism one step further with women. Sometimes, he is happily rewarded with a romantic interlude, but usually the circumstances, coupled with the career demands of the women he meets, means his relationships are never lasting.
During his studies at Starfleet Academy, Kirk was privileged
to have a romantic affair with Ruth, a beautiful young lady who stole his heart
for a time. She was the type of She had long blonde hair that was carefully
styled, and she was known to wear fashionable, flowing gowns, a woman who was
touched by romantic gestures, such as a flower given to her by a young ensign.
Kirk wins the hearts of many women and they, quite often, win his. However brief
are these fleeting affairs, the good captain always makes an honest attempt to
depart on good terms.
The relationship during this time that was more serious was
the one Kirk shared with Dr. Janice Lester. A brilliant ambitious woman who
always had one eye on the comparison between her career and Kirk's. They soon
break up. Later she comes back into his life with a disturbing last
confrontation with a life-energy transfer device on Kirk, she nearly succeeds in
taking over his career and life, both of which she had coveted dearly. In the
20th century Earth, Kirk falls in love with social activist Edith Keeler.
Tragically, he is forced to stand by and watch her die so that history can run
its pre-destined course. Only once does one of Kirk's affairs lead to marriage,
but the captain is sadly left a widower after only a couple of months with
Miramanee.
Another of Kirk's early relationships; Carol Marcus, came
close to testing the limits of Kirk's commitment to Starfleet. Together they
produced a son, David Marcus, born in 2261. This was only a few years prior to
Kirk's taking command of the Enterprise Shortly after their son's birth, their
careers would take them in separate directions. once again their work came
first. Kirk also respects her wishes that he not contact his son. Both mother
and son are working on Project Genesis, when Kirk catches up with them again but
the reunion is tinged with sadness when their work is sabotaged by Khan Noonien
Singh, a man intent on a murderous revenge against Kirk. he kills David his son.
A romantic encounter with Dr.
Gillian Taylor is an attractive marine biologist who is committed to her work
with whales in late 20th- century San Francisco. Gillian Taylor is fond of Kirk.
The admiral appears to sense her intrigue, and quickly asks her out for dinner.
The attraction between them is genuine, but Kirk is playing along to gain
Gillian's trust and help in his main objective. which is to take two whales back
to the 23rd century. Also ignorance of 20th century money leaves her to pay the
restaurant bill. Kirk has such an effect on her that she eventually throws her
lot in with this man, opting to return with him to the future. She in fact has
used Kirk to improve her career.
As he gets older Kirk wonders how his life could have been
different settled with a loving family away from the stress and strain of
captaining a Starship.
Kirk's final known
relationship occurs after his retirement from
Starfleet. His career ended, he finds himself enjoying life in a country house
on Earth with a woman named Antonia. He eventually breaks off the relationship
in order to return to Starfleet but has some regrets about this decision, saying
that all duty and obligation got him was loneliness and an empty house. He knows
that he has missed out on the chance for a comfortable family life and peace of
mind, but he is ultimately a man of action who cannot resist a life of adventure
and surprise.

KIRK THE KLINGONS -AND HIS FINAL BATTLE
The Organians refuse Kirk's offer of help, and he and Spock
are trapped on the planet. They begin to sabotage the Klingon operation, but are
soon uncovered. The Organians grow tired of the fighting and reveal
themselves to be powerful super-beings and impose the Organian Peace Treaty on
the Federation and the Klingon. Although Kirk believes that he and the Klingons
are not at all alike, he accepts that eventually there will be peace between
them. Indeed, at this stage of his career, Kirk seems to give the Klingons a
certain amount of respect. Later in his career , events occur to lower Kirk's opinion
of the Klingons even further. While trying to retrieve Spock's body from the
Genesis Planet, He is attacked by Kruge, who gives orders to kill Kirk's son,
David, and forces Kirk to destroy the Enterprise1701 in a desperate attempt to
avoid capture. Kirk kills Kruge on the Genesis Planet, but his feelings about
the Klingons harden and he believes that he will never be able to forgive them
for the death of his son David. Spock begins the first tentative steps toward peace with the
Klingons, he involves Kirk not talking about it to him first. He knew of course
he would refuse to help. Kirk believes that after the destruction of Praxis the
Klingons should be allowed to die. He regards them as little more than animals,
and is very uncomfortable with the peace mission. And he is none to happy with
Spock. After the Khitomer conference, Kirk once again retires from
Starfleet. Later the same year, Kirk attends the launch of the U.S.S. Enterprise
NCC-1701-B. When the ship responds to a distress call from two EI-Aurian
transports, he makes essential modifications to the ship's deflector. The nexus
ribbon hits the ship dragging Kirk into it. He is lost presumed
dead. In reality, he is transported to a place known as the Nexus, where he
lives an idyllic existence outside the boundaries of normal space-time, he is
unaware of this existence until Jean Luc Picard shows up and asks for his help. Kirk leaves the Nexus when Jean-Luc Picard of the U.S.S.
Enterprise 1701-D arrives from the future and persuades him to help fight Dr.
Tolian Soran, who in one timeline has destroyed millions of lives so that he can
re-enter the Nexus. Kirk travels to Veridian III , foiling Soran's scheme and
altering the timeline so that millions of lives are saved. This is where Kirk
dies a hero's death. A lone figure Picard, stands on a
mountain top, at the grave side
of Captain James Tiberius Kirk. His final resting place. :( Perhaps some journeys were never
meant to end. There are always possibilities.
James T. Kirk is involved in some of the most significant
events in the history of Federation and Klingon relationships. One of the most
important occurs when negotiations between the two great powers break down. Kirk
is ordered to prevent Organia, a strategically important primitive planet, from
falling into Klingon hands. Kirk has no doubts about the value of his orders. He
has already seen what happens on worlds that have been conquered by the Klingons,
and he is appalled by it. Klingon governors regularly take planetary leaders
prisoner and impose severe laws on their new subjects. Any resistance is met
with brutality and mass executions.
Over the following years, Kirk is involved with various
incidents in the unspoken war with the Klingons. At Station K-7, he uncovers a
plot to poison grain, and exposes a Klingon spy, Arne Darvin, who has been
surgically altered to resemble a human. Even after his death, Kirk is not safe
from Klingons. Arne Darvin uses the Bajoran Orb of Time to travel back in time
and attempts to kill Kirk with an exploding tribble. Kirk's reputation is so
great that Darvin fully expects that murdering Kirk will make him one of the
Empire's greatest heroes. Kirk, however never really trusts them. He still
regards the Klingons as brutal killers. Kirk has achieved a degree of notoriety
within the Klingon Empire, and seems to be honoured and despised in equal
measure.
During the peace negotiations Chancellor Gorkon's ship is
attacked, They say the weapon is fired from Kirks ship. And Dr.
McCoy and himself transport over to offer assistance. They are arrested for the attack.
Under diplomatic pressure, the Klingons do not execute them but sentence them to
prison in the dilithium mines on Rura Penthe. Kirk is rescued and discovers that
some Starfleet personnel have been conspiring with Klingon officers to wreck the
peace initiatives. He takes the Enterprise to Khitomer and exposes the
conspiracy. Ironically, Kirk being the Klingon Empire's greatest enemy ushers in
a new era of peace.
